The Board of Directors of MCCS is seeking a skilled and dynamic leader to serve as Principal of Middleburg Community Charter School. The Principal, in collaboration with the School Mission Team (SMT) is responsible for shaping and sustaining the school’s distinctive culture and ensuring that the students internalize the school’s values and aspirations by becoming curious learners. He or she will provide cultural leadership to the teaching staff and oversees the implementation of school-wide systems and procedures. Above all, we look for educators who are excited to embrace an innovative approach to learning and who believe that family and community partnerships are crucial.

REPORTS TO: MCCS Board of Directors
STARTING DATE: July 1, 2017

1. Supervision of staff and curriculum for elementary students.
2. Collaborates with the SMT to develop, implement and monitor the 5 year vision for school growth and Leonardo da Vinci curriculum including yearly School Success Plan with aligned school budget.
3. Promotes high expectations for teaching and learning.
4. Shares leadership of the School Mission Team composed of administrators, staff, parents and community sponsors in the management and administration of the school.
5. Effectively communicates school progress toward meeting School Plan goals to stakeholders – Board, SMT, Staff, Parents, LCPS, and Community.
6. Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the curriculum, instruction and assessment of students.
7. Ensures staff has professional growth opportunities that enhance their performance and improve student learning.
8. Uses and analyzes data to instill the importance of developing programs and strategies to enhance opportunities for learning.
9. Monitors and evaluates staff performance through formative and summative measures.
10. Systematically and fairly recognizes accomplishments of staff and students towards a positive school culture.
11. Manages fiscal and physical resources responsibly, efficiently, and effectively.
12. Complies with federal, state, and board regulations/policies.
13. Ensures a safe and secure school environment and culture that is conducive to teaching and learning including addressing and resolving issues in a timely manner and fair manner, and works to prevent potential problems.
14. Fosters and maintains positive relationships with staff collaboratively work to establish a culture that encourages and welcomes families and community members and seeks ways to engage them in student learning.
15. Participates in professional growth that is aligned with his/her professional needs and/or is aligned with the needs of the school/district.
16. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.

• Possession of a State of Virginia certification as a School Principal or the ability to obtain certification by 15 May 2017. Teacher certification is preferred.
• An educator must have a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience.
• Bachelors or Master’s degree in education.
• Favorable Criminal Background Check for the candidate who is offered employment.
• Tuberculin test & physical.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve Months Contract with option to renew.

The Principal is a direct employee of the MCCS Board of Directors. The MCCS Board of Directors offers competitive compensation and benefits commensurate with experience.

EVALUATION: Principal will be evaluated annually in accordance with Loudoun County School Board and State policies by the MCCS Board of Directors.
